Every hobby
- Base CardThe standard, most common version of a card — the one every parallel in the set is a version of.Concept
- Case HitA card seeded at roughly one per sealed case rather than one per box — the scarcity tier above box-level odds.Concept
- Chase CardThe card a product is bought for — the top of the ladder, or the insert everyone actually wants.Concept
- Die-Cuton our shelfA card physically cut into a shape other than a rectangle.Physical form
- Foilon our shelfA reflective metallic layer applied over part or all of a card — the base mechanism behind refractors, prizms and holos.Coating
- Hobby vs Retailon our shelfThe two channels a product is sold through — and the reason the same colour can be two different cards.Concept
- InsertA card with its own design and name, seeded into packs alongside the base set — not a version of a base card.Concept
- One-of-OneA card with a print run of exactly one — the only copy that exists.Serial number
- ParallelThe same card printed again with something changed — a finish, a colour, a serial number, a shape.Concept
- Print RunHow many copies of a specific card were made — stated on serial-numbered cards, estimated from odds on everything else.Serial number
- Printing PlateThe actual metal plate used to print a card, released into packs — unique by physics, one per ink colour.Physical form
- Rainbowon our shelfA complete set of every colour parallel of one card — the collecting goal, not a card type.Concept
- Serial NumberedA card stamped with its own number out of a stated print run, like 24/99 — the only mechanism that states scarcity outright.Serial number
- Short PrintA card printed in deliberately smaller quantities than the rest of its set, usually without a serial number to prove it.Serial number

- Atomic RefractorA refractor etched with a bold field of irregular curved shapes — a much chunkier pattern than the plain finish.Pattern
- Colour MatchWhen something about the parallel lines up with the subject — the tint matching team colours, or the serial matching a jersey number.Concept

- Rookie CardA player's first card in a licensed major release — a status, not a finish, and the thing most sports card value is built on.Concept
- Rookie Patch Auto (RPA)A rookie card carrying both a piece of jersey material and a signature — the top of the modern rookie market.Physical form
- Select Tiers (Concourse / Premier / Field Level)on our shelfPanini Select splits one base set into three stadium-themed tiers, each scarcer and differently designed than the last.Concept
- Shimmer PrizmA refractive finish with a dense micro-sparkle texture — glitter-fine rather than a bold pattern.Pattern

- SuperfractorThe top rung of the Topps refractor ladder — a swirled gold patterned refractor kept as a one-of-one.Pattern

- Alternate ArtA second printing of an existing card with an entirely different illustration — same name, same rules text, new picture.Art
- BorderlessA Magic: The Gathering printing with no frame border — the art runs to the trimmed edge and the text sits over it.Art
- Collector's RareA Yu-Gi-Oh! rarity with a matte, finely etched surface across the whole card — deliberately not glossy.Physical form
- EnchantedDisney Lorcana's top rarity — an alternate version of an existing card with new full-face artwork and a distinctive shimmer.Art
- Etched FoilA Magic foil process with an etched pattern worked into the reflective layer, giving a grainier shine across the whole face.Coating
- Extended ArtA Magic printing where the artwork is stretched to the left and right edges while the frame and text box stay in place.Art
- Full ArtA Pokémon card whose illustration covers the entire face, with the game text printed over the art instead of beside it.Art
- Ghost RareA Yu-Gi-Oh! rarity whose artwork is rendered pale and near-white in relief, so the picture looks bleached rather than brightened.Coating
- Gold Secret RareA Pokémon card printed in metallic gold and numbered past the end of the set — including, often, energy and trainer cards.Coating
- Holo RareA Pokémon rare whose artwork window is foiled while the rest of the card stays matte.Coating
- Illustration RareA modern Pokémon rarity where the card carries scene artwork running to the edges, numbered past the end of the set.Art
- Quarter Century Secret RareA Yu-Gi-Oh! Secret Rare that additionally carries the game's anniversary commemorative stamp on the card face.Coating
- Rainbow RareA Pokémon card printed in a pastel rainbow wash over the whole face, with the subject rendered in colours it does not actually have.Coating
- Reverse HoloA Pokémon card with the foil applied everywhere except the artwork window — the inverse of a holo rare.Coating
- Secret RareIn Yu-Gi-Oh!, a card with a silver holographic name and a diagonal sparkling foil laid across the artwork.Coating
- Showcase FrameA Magic alternate frame designed specifically for one set's theme — a different look each time, not a fixed style.Art
- Special Illustration RareThe top art-led Pokémon rarity — scene artwork, heavy surface texture, and a card number at the very end of the checklist.Art
- Starlight RareA Yu-Gi-Oh! rarity covered edge to edge in a faceted, crystalline foil pattern — including the text box.Pattern
- Surge FoilA Magic foil finish carrying a rippling wave pattern that sweeps across the card when it is tilted.Pattern
- Textured FoilA premium Magic finish with a raised, physically feelable texture worked into the foil surface.Physical form
- Ultimate RareA Yu-Gi-Oh! card whose artwork and frame are physically embossed so the design stands up off the surface.Physical form
