A Hyper parallel is a refractive card whose finish is etched into fine, tightly spaced lines running across the surface. The effect is a hard directional glare rather than a soft sweep — hold it at the wrong angle and it can look almost flat, then turn it slightly and the whole card lights up.

How to spot it

• Fine parallel lines, close enough together that they read as a texture rather than as individual rays.
• A narrow sweet spot. Hyper needs a specific angle more than most patterns; if a card looks dull in hand and blazes at one particular tilt, check for line etching.
• Look for the name. Hyper is printed in the parallel name on listings and checklists, which resolves it faster than the pattern does.

Hyper parallels are frequently tied to a specific sales channel in the products that run them, and hyper variants also appear stacked with colours — so a "Silver Hyper" and a "Bronze Hyper" from the same product are two different cards on two different rungs. Check the checklist for the product in hand rather than assuming the arrangement carried over from last year.
