A Lazer parallel is a refractive card whose finish is etched into straight rays fanning across the surface like beams. It is one of the more dramatic Panini patterns: the rays are wide, clearly separated, and usually angled rather than square to the card.

How to spot it

• Wide, straight, separated rays. Hyper lines are fine and packed; lazer rays are bold and spaced.
• Straight, not rippled. If the bands curve or roll, you are in the wave family.
• Directional. The rays have an obvious orientation, so the effect changes a lot depending on which way you tilt.

Lazer finishes run in several Panini product lines, plain and colour-tinted. Where a lazer sits in a product's ordering, whether it is numbered, and which channel it appears in are all set year by year — read the card and the checklist for that season rather than carrying an ordering forward.
